Private Underground Dining Comes to Harrisburg

Private Underground Dining is....

Private Underground Dining is a very old concept that has been around for decades, perhaps longer, in major cities like New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Paris, London, Rome, and at my friend's house in a stone villa in Verona, Italy.

This fashion of dining is for those who are true lovers of food; whose deepest passion is food, and consider themselves on the cutting edge to try something new, something that is not always found on a restaurant menu.  There might not even be a restaurant in town that serves what might be considered a traditional dish, or even a restaurant serving a particular ethnic cuisine.  But in private Harriburg dining or a 'Private Supper Club' you will find traditional to uncommon dishes.

The private underground dining, or private supper club, experience is an exciting adventure for those who have never encountered it.  You are entering a stranger's home, rather than meeting at the usual loud 'trendy' restaurant with inexperienced and somtimes rude waiters who could are less if your assembly line food arrives either before your aperitif or after you've consumed your first bottle of wine.  There is a bit of anticipation of the unexpected....

The chef/hostess is experienced in the kitchen and entertaining.  It is their art and their passion.  Dinner, or lunch, can be served 'family style' or individually plated in the kitchen; it could be a three or four course meal, or many different mini appetizers, tapas or meze style.

The settings and ambiance will vary; elegant, comfortable, intimate, formal, casual, etcetera.  the second most important aspect of private underground dining, is the European concept of Slow Food.  The Slow Food movement began in Europe to to preserve the traditional art of dining, whether at home or dining out; whether bistro or trattoria, or high-end establishments.  In our fast paced world, people have literally been eating and running.  People don't even sit at a table anymore.  In the traditional European culture, friends, family, even strangers take their time dining together.  They enjoy and savour their food, their wine, the company and the art of great conversation.  A dinner may last several hours.  Good food, good wine, good company are the ingredients of a fabulous dining experience.  Music - background, not blaring, is entirely up to you.  But laughter at the table is the best music of all.

In the private Harrisburg dining setting, one will not be rushed.  There is no table to turn; no reservation after you.  Sit, relax, enjoy, and savour.  Birthdays, business meetings, anniversaries, and any special occasion is an added pleasure for the host or hostess as he or she will have the opportunity to create a totally unique setting, especially for you.

It is encouraged that you bring your own bottle, or any other alcoholic beverage with you; cocktails, and after dinner drinks, too; although it is recommended that you don't overdo it.

The price of this First Class culinary voyage without a passport is by donation.  Sometimes there might be a minimum suggested donation, or a deposit.  Reservations are necessary.  Everyone is welcome to seconds, and if there is anything left at all, you can bring it home to the baby-sitter, or significant other.

Welcome to private Harrisburg dining...a new and unique dining experience in downtown Harrisburg!

Buon Appetito
